Great deal on Sony noise canceling earbuds for your workouts - $99
Right now, you can get a pair of Sony WF-1000XM3 wireless noise cancelling earbuds for just $99! It's listed as refurbished, but still a far-cry from the retail price of $229. Also, the ear buds have been manufacturer refurbished and come with a 90-day warranty and a 30-day return policy.
The Sony WF-1000XM3 have good reviews and are comparable to the Apple AirPod Pro. The AirPod Pro will definitely have the advantage for those using iPhones and Apple products as they allow for seamless integration with Siri and for switching between Apple devices.
In my experience, wireless noise canceling earbuds are the best when it comes to working out and for sleeping in-flight in lieflat mode. Over-the-ear noise canceling headsets like the Bose QuietComfort 35 do reign supreme when it comes to sound quality and drowning out the noise, but they're bulky and you'll be drenched in sweat after a workout, especially with anything that involves HIIT or your dreaded leg day. Also, it's hard to sleep on your side in business class lieflat mode with Bose QC headsets, but earbuds like the Sony WF-1000XM3 allow for far greater head mobility.
Which credit card to use?
Since the Sony WF-1000XM3 come with only a 90-day warranty, I would recommend using a credit card that offers extended warranty like the Costco Citi Anywhere Visa card. Citi did away with many great benefits like extended warranty in September 2019, but the Costco Citi card retained the extended warranty benefit, which extends the original manufacturer's warranty by 2 years. So with the Costco Citi card, you should be getting 2 years and 3 months of warranty coverage. In addition, you'll also be getting 120 days of accidental damage and theft protection.
Other cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Amex Gold also offer damage and theft protection. But Amex only matches the manufacturer's warranty for up to 1 year, so in this case, it would only double the 90-day warranty for a total of a 180-day warranty. Chase does add a full additional year of warranty to the manufacturer's warranty regardless of the original length, but that would still leave you with 15 months of coverage instead of 2 years and 3 months with the Costco Citi card.
Quick thoughts
If you've been in the hunt for a good set of workout earbuds or were just looking for a sweet pair of noise-canceling headsets in general for a reasonable price, the Sony WF-1000XM3 would be your best bet. Just remember to use a credit that offers extended warranty and purchase protection as you're bound to put these earbuds to work while doing your burpees and squats.
