What is Fluz?


Fluz has dubbed itself as the free app with "cash back that keeps coming back".  Like MileagePlusX, Fluz allows you to buy discounted gift cards (that never expire) for instantaneous or later redemption at hundreds of retailers through their app.  Currently, they're offering a sign-up bonus of 35% cashback on up to 3 gift cards, including the likes of Chipotle, Domino's, Spotify, Grubhub, Starbucks, CVS, and more.


Which credit card(s) to use with Fluz?

Amex has listed Fluz as a small business, so gift card purchases via Fluz are eligible for the Amex Small Biz offer that gets you $5 off a $10+ purchase (ending on September 20, 2020)!  Fluz also accepts PayPal, so you can earn 5x Ultimate Rewards (UR) on all gift cards from October 1 through December 31, 2020 if you pay with your old Chase Freedom and/or new Chase Freedom Flex cards.  They're also one of the only online retailers that sells Amazon gift cards for instantaneous redemption, while also earning 0.5% cashback.  And if you have a credit card that earns 5x at office supply stores such as the Chase Ink Cash or Chase Ink Plus, you can get 5x on their business gift cards and office supply store gift cards:

Amazon Business and Walmart Business gift cards are the same as regular Amazon and Walmart gift cards, so you can simply add the value to your existing accounts.  This means that if you hold the Chase Ink Cash or Chase Ink Plus cards, you no longer have to physically enter an office supply store like Staples to buy Amazon gift cards for 5x and you can do it in a matter of seconds with your Fluz app.

Citi temporarily adds American Airlines as a mileage transfer partner!

In a surprise move, Citi has added American Airlines as a transfer partner for their ThankYou Points (TYP) earning credit cards.  What's especially intriguing is that even no annual fee cards that normally don't offer transfers to loyalty programs are eligible for this new and temporary partnership, albeit at a lower transfer ratio.  Citi's premium line of cards, including the Prestige and the Premier, both have 1:1 transfer capability with AAdvantage miles (1,000 TYP = 1,000 AAdvantage miles).  Whereas no annual fee cards, including the ThankYou Preferred and the Rewards+, get a 2:1 transfer ratio (1,000 TYP = 500 AAdvantage miles).  This transfer partnership is valid from July 18 through November 13, though one could speculate that it could be extended. Chase has announced their 3rd quarter (Q3) 5x categories for thee Freedom Flex and old Freedom cards: Grocery Stores (excluding Target® & Walmart®): Just in time for grilling season, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases to cook-up their favorite recipes all summer long.
